Nerja has sixteen lovely beaches with golden sand and clear water where you can enjoy most water sports including scuba diving, water skiing and sailing. A ‘must’ to visit when in Nerja are the spectacular Caves of Nerja, which were only discovered in 1959. There’s also a stunning Roman aqueduct which is still in use. Nerja also provides an excellent ‘gateway’ to the historic, moorish, Andalucia cities of Granada, where you can visit the magnificent Alhambra, a world heritage site, and Cordoba with its magnificent Mesquetilla.We also strongly recommend that you take a trip to Saville: home of the fiery flamenco and Malaga birthplace of Picasso and film star Antonio Banderas. All are no more than a two hour drive away from Nerja.
Travelling to Nerja
Nerja has the big advantage of being an inexpensive destination and only a two and a half hour flight from the UK and Northern Europe. Budget airlines including Easyjet, Monarch, Flybe, Thomson, BMIbaby, Iberia, Globespan, Ryanair, Air Scotland, BA and Jet2 all fly into Malaga Airport and offer attractive fares throughout the year. And when you get to Malaga Airport it's just a 45 minute drive along a quiet autovia to Nerja. Or if you prefer, there's a good bus service from Malaga Airport to Nerja.
